Every year we produce 434 million tonnes of waste in the UK and society is becoming more conscious of the importance of disposing it safely. As a company operating in the waste management industry, it is therefore important that we have a technically competent manager in place and that they are trained to NVQ standard.
To ensure that they are familiar with the latest health and safety and waste management legislation, each manager is required to pass a refresher course every two years. We are therefore pleased to announce that our technically competent person, Gary Thurtle, has recently passed the WAMITAB Non-Hazardous Waste Transfer refresher course and is now deemed to be technically competent until November 2017.
“It’s important that you keep on top of legislation, as it changes so much – even in just a couple of years. As a result of doing the course I’ve been able to put improvements in place and revise our existing systems. The refresher ensures that our site is safe for our staff and the environment.†– Gary Thurtle, Director of WT Skip Hire.
