With spring now here and with summer on the horizon, the gardening season is well under way. As gardeners everywhere begin to make the most of the (slightly) warmer temperatures, one of the biggest national gardening events will be taking place: The Royal Horticultural Society’s National Gardening Week. In this blog we will be talking about the event and how you can get involved.

What Is National Gardening Week?

The week was launched 7 years ago by the RHS and it aims at becoming the country’s biggest celebration of gardening. Across the country, thousands of people, charities, gardens and heritage organisations get involved. The week aims to raise awareness of gardening and horticulture and aims to encourage more people to take part in gardening to reap its many different benefits.

What Is Involved in National Gardening Week?

Throughout the week (April 30th – 6th May) there will be various different activities and events held across the country. Garden parties, park clean-ups and talks from gardeners are among a few of the planned events and you can take inspiration from these or hold your own garden-inspired event. The RHS are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved, with activities as simple as growing your own tomatoes a valid way to take part in the event. The RHS has many different garden related ideas you could try in your own home.

How Can You Get Involved?

If you wish to host your own event during the week, then you must register for the event. Many of the top RHS’ gardens, including Wisley, Harlow Carr, Warren House and others will be holding events. There are currently no ops in Norfolk to celebrate the event – so why not change this?

How We Can Help Your Garden Project

If you get inspired by National Gardening Week and decide to take a long-overdue pruning saw to your garden. We have the perfect skips to help you clear away the clippings. Whether you are planning a simple job like trimming back the laurel hedge or something larger like completely refurbishing your outdoor space, we can help.

Our skips come in a range of different sizes, each more suited to the different styles and volumes of waste than others. Our website has guidance on the different amounts of waste our skips can hold. Capacity is indicated through the number of full black bin bags they could potentially hold. Our smaller skips from 2-yards to 5-yards are perfect for undertaking smaller garden jobs. Our largest skips are not suitable for jobs that involve soil and concrete waste, as this will make the skips too heavy to transport safely.

Interested in getting your own skip in time for your national gardening week project? We can help, call us on 01493 668118 or email us on info@wtskiphire.co.uk.
