Skips are designed to be filled with the waste products from various domestic, commercial and industrial projects, but that doesn’t mean they have to be ugly. Over the years, we’ve invited local artist Mik Richardson to bring his brush to bear on our skips. Here are some of his designs. All of them are painted on working skips.
Lazy Summer Days
"See the skips and their million hordes,
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads..."
An idyllic day on the Norfolk Broads as represented by artist Mik Richardson.
Earl of Pembroke
“I must go down to the sea again, the lonely sea and the sky
All I need is a tall skip and a star to steer her by.”
Mik poses next to his seascape featuring the tall ship Earl of Pembroke that was in harbour for the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival in 2016.
Fire Breathing Dragons
“When you play the Game of Skips, you win or you die.”
This skip was painted in situ outside the Joyland fun park in Great Yarmouth with Mik chatting away to passers-by as he worked.
World Book Day
“The Lion, the Skip and the Wardrobe”
The most recent work of art was unveiled for World Book Day on the 2nd March this year.
All of our painted skips go into general use after they have been on display. If you are in need of a skip, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01493 668118. Maybe you will have a work of art parked outside your home or business!
