What You Can Put in Your Skip?

Every so often, it’s good to go over the basics. Just because we know what can and can’t go in a skip, doesn’t mean that you do. It might be your first time hiring a skip. Here’s a guide to the sorts of things that we can safely dispose of if you toss them in your skip. Safe to Skip

• Wood and Green Waste: Some of this goes into our wood burner to heat our building! The rest is shredded and turned into bedding, bio-fuel and compost.
• Rubble and Soil: We crush and grade rubble for use in construction. Soil is similarly screened for use in landscaping. Word to the Wise – our larger skips, 10-yard+, are unsuitable for filling with soil and rubble as they become too heavy to transport.
• Glass and Plate Glass: Glass can be melted and turned into more glass or crushed for use in construction.
• Metals and Plastics: Both these materials can be sorted by type, then melted down and formed into new products.
• Textiles, card and paper: We send rags, card and paper on to a paper mill where it is turned into more paper.
• Plaster Board: We will take a small quantity of plaster board for free, but we charge extra for large quantities. Due to stipulations by the Environment Agency – all plasterboard must be bagged separately from the general waste.
