Suffolk County Council have increased the charge for a permit to place a skip on a road from £25 to £70. We believe this increase is unfair to our customers who live in roadside properties – it’s essentially a tax on not having a driveway – so we have taken the decision not to offer skip permits in Suffolk and instead promote alternative services.
Cost-Effective Alternatives
We are very aware that cost is key to everybody, so we want to offer the best cost-effective alternatives possible, ensuring we continue to service and support Suffolk households and businesses as much as possible. For the time being, we are offering these alternative arrangements for Suffolk based customers:
Wait & Load Service
The driver will arrive, lower the skip, and you will have 30 minutes to fill it and it will then be loaded up onto the lorry and taken straight to our waste depot. Online bookings will need a 5 working day lead time but, if you need it sooner, give us a call and we’ll do our best to fit you in.
The fee for this service is £15 on top of the cost of the skip.
Waste Bag Service
Our waste bag service is available to all customers in the regions where we operate. Customers can order a roll of 10 green sacks for £7.20 (incl. VAT) per roll. Fill as many sacks as you need. Once full, we will collect them for a fee of £7.20 (incl. VAT) per sack.
We hope these cost-effective alternatives will suffice for customers whose properties are located on a public road until Suffolk County Council review their permit costs and reduce them to a more realistic price.
At present, permits for Norfolk addresses are still available at a reasonable cost. So we are continuing to apply for road permits on behalf of customers in Norfolk.
