The metric system hasn’t fully infiltrated the waste disposal industry. Our skips are all still advertised by their capacity in cubic yards. We thought it would be helpful for you if we explained what you are getting when you order our most popular sizes of skip.
2 Yard Skip – 5ft x 4ft x 3ft
The smallest size of skip we offer, 2 cubic yards will hold 25-35 black bin bags of waste. Popular with gardeners who want to dispose of autumn leaves and businesses who are having a small refurbishment.
4 Yard Skip – 7ft x 5ft x 3ft
This is the most popular size of skip. It will comfortably hold 45-55 black bags of waste. There is enough room in a 4 yard skip to take the waste generated by renovation projects and even small house clearances.
6 Yard Skip – 10ft x 5ft x 4ft
This is a small builder’s skip of the sort you might see parked on the road when some building work is being done to a house. This size of skip will hold 65-75 black bin bags of waste. It can be supplied with a drop door for ease of wheeling in barrows of rubble or soil.
10 Yard Skip – 12ft x 6ft x 6ft
For your major projects and large house clearances that involve the removal of bulky items, we can provide high-sided skips with a low-level lip at the back end. These larger skips are unsuitable for soil and rubble removal as these waste materials make the skips too heavy to transport safely.
18 Yard Skip – 13ft x 6.5ft x 7ft
This is our largest skip-shaped skip (we have larger roll-on roll-off containers). We’d mostly expect this to be hired by clients who want them for commercial or industrial use.
These are just some of the most popular sizes! We have all sorts of in between sizes as well. Check out our video:
