Gary achieves Certificate of Professional Competence

WT Skip Hire director Gary Thurtle has become the third member of his family, and the business, to obtain a Certificate of Professional Competence in Transport Management. The CPC certificate is a legal requirement if you manage any type of transport business which has large goods vehicles. Gary's father, Wally, obtained the qualification many decades ago, and his brother Max passed his in 2011. The qualification ensures that the company knows how to maintain its skip lorries safely and legally, and that its skip drivers are driving to a high standard and within tachograph regulations. Gary says: “It's a tough certificate to get, and we were really proud of Max when he passed first time. I wanted to be trained to the same standard, and the pressure was on to pass first time too!” The company's drivers have also all passed their CPC driver's certification, which calls for LGV drivers to attend 35 hours of approved training before August 2014. The training covered drivers' hours, safe loading of vehicles and driver conduct. Gary Thurtle WT Skip Hire
