Great Turnout for Skip Art Event in Great Yarmouth!

If you were out and about in Great Yarmouth this weekend it would have been hard for you to miss us as we hosted our second skip art event at Anchor Plaza. We were fortunate enough to be joined by friend of the company, artist Mik Richardson, and he did an amazing job transforming two more of our skips with scenes inspired by Norfolk life. The weekend’s event follows on from the incredibly successful event we hosted last year and we were delighted to work with the local borough council to come back again. Speaking ahead of the event, Cllr Graham Plant said: “Last year’s skip art event was hugely popular, with scores of fascinated people watching Mik transform these skips into beautiful and quirky works of art. As with many other events the borough council supports during the tourism season, the aim of this skip art event is to offer something slightly different to help further attract people to the borough. It is also helping to boost the borough’s reputation as a centre for culture and heritage.” Completed dragon skip Despite the overcast conditions, Mik once again excelled himself and produced two more fantastic designs for us – one being a mythical dragons theme and the other a tribute to the Joyland fun park – including its world famous snails! As he worked Mik was happy to answer questions from passers-by and it was great to see so many people take the time to appreciate his work. “Last year’s event was incredibly successful and great fun. And the icing on the cake was a marketing award from enterpriseGY for the event. We were keen to do it again as Mik is great fun and so passionate about his work. Last year’s skips are still being used by customers and making an impression and the new ones will be too.” – Gary Thurtle, WT Skip Hire Director. We would like to take this opportunity to once again thank Mik for his time and fantastic work, as well as Great Yarmouth Borough Council for their assistance in managing the event. We look forward to hopefully seeing you all again next summer! You can find images from the event on our Facebook page.
