Humans spend approximately one third of their lives asleep. For most of us, sleep is aided by a comfortable mattress. But what do you do with them when they have come to the end of their lifespan? At WT Skip Hire, we now offer a mattress disposal scheme for people renting our skips.
Mattresses Collected
We can dispose of a maximum of 2 mattresses of any size for an additional £15 per mattress. When we collect your skip, we can put the mattress or mattresses on the lorry back and then put the skip on top of them and chain everything down securely.
Mattresses Reused (Not for Sleeping!)
Mattresses are comprised of composite materials and are famously difficult items to recycle. We will give them a second lease of life at our scrapyard where there are a number of uses they can be put to cushioning potential impacts!
Better Value than Council Collections
Some councils offer a collection service for bulky items. Norwich City Council charge £23 and told us when we asked that they remove the metal then send mattresses straight to landfill or for incineration. These expensive services are only available to residential customers.
When you are hiring a skip from WT Skip Hire, for a small extra charge, we’ll take your mattresses away as well. When booking your skip online, you can add mattresses during Stage 4: Skip Details. The price of your skip hire will automatically update when you select the number of mattresses that you wish to dispose of.
