Recycling Lives: Creating Opportunities for Former Inmates

Those of you who regularly follow our blog will remember our post from June about the work we do with the charity Recycling Lives. For those of you who missed it, Recycling Lives is a social welfare charity which offers opportunities to those who have recently left prison.

As part of their work, Recycling Lives offers support in a number of areas, including:

  • Residential: The charity offers secure living environments and a structured approach to the rehabilitation of former inmates.
  • Food Distribution: Recycling Lives offers a food distribution centre which helps to address the issue of food poverty.
  • HMP Academies: Most former inmates are not looking for pity. They simply want an opportunity to turn their lives around and the charity has established academies in a number of prisons across the country to help inmates reach their potential.
  • Social Enterprise: By offering a range of social enterprise activities, Recycling Lives are able to help people create further employment opportunities and sustainability.

Recycling Lives continues to expand across the country and their fantastic work was recently highlighted in a feature by ITV Granada. You can watch their report by following the link below.

At WT Skip Hire we are proud to be a corporate partner of Recycling Lives and work with them to deliver our skip hire services in support of their work.
