Skips are designed to be filled with the waste products from various domestic, commercial and industrial projects, but that doesn’t mean they have to be ugly. Over the years, we’ve invited local artist Mik Richardson to bring his brush to bear on our skips. Here are some of his designs. All of them are painted on working skips.
Lazy Summer Days

Earl of Pembroke
Mik poses next to his seascape featuring the tall ship Earl of Pembroke that was in harbour for the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festival in 2016.Â
Fire Breathing Dragons
This skip was painted in situ outside the Joyland fun park in Great Yarmouth with Mik chatting away to passers-by as he worked.
World Book Day
The most recent work of art was unveiled for World Book Day on the 2nd March this year.
