The New Year is often a time when most people finally start the little jobs in their houses that may require a skip, after procrastinating about it for months beforehand. In this blog, we will be clearing up the subject of disposing of rubble and soil in our skips.
Choosing the Right Skip for Your Project
Choosing the right skip for your project is often a difficult thing to do. Choosing a skip with the right space to safely fit all of your waste is a priority but not something that’s always easy. Here are some of the things you should consider when choosing your skip:
- The waste created – On the sizes page of our website you will find the different skips and the volumes of waste they can hold. Each skip will say the number of black binbags it can hold and you should use these as a guideline. If in doubt, it’s better to overestimate the amount of waste you have and get a bigger skip instead of overfilling a smaller skip.
- The type of project – If you are planning a small garden job – such as the pruning of an overgrown hedge – then one of our smaller skips will be ideal for you, equally if you are refurbishing an office one of our largest skips will be a good choice.
- The type of waste generated – Our larger skips are not suitable for storing soil and rubble, due to the fact that it will make the skip to heavy to safely transport. If you are planning a job – such as the laying of a new patio – which will involve soil and rubble, you can only use our skips under 10 cubic yards.
Our Waste Management Policy
Here at WT Skip Hire, we have a strict waste management policy that we follow. It sees us ensure that 90% of the waste we collect in our skips is recycled. As we sort through the contents of the collected skips, we order the waste into a number of containers we have set up. This allows us to deal with the vast majority of different types of waste including rubble, soil, metals, wood, glass and textiles.
If you are planning a job, you can be assured that your waste will be dealt with responsibly and safely by us. We have the necessary licenses and insurance to do our job safely and legally.
