The historic Great Yarmouth Duck Race returns this Sunday 17th September. The event which is held by the Great Yarmouth Haven Club has raised over £60,000 for charity since it started in 2000 and this year the attendance is expected to be high again. Once again, the river Yare will be transformed into a giant paddling of around 2500 ducks. Sorry in advance for any terrible puns that you may come across.
About Duck Rogers
This year, we have our own competitor representing WT Skip Hire. He goes by the name of Duck Rogers and he’s raring to go. In the giant duck category, he is preparing for his maiden voyage and he will be sure to come up against some experienced regulars. He’s been getting up at the quack of dawn to prepare for the race for the last month. Please waddle along to support Duck Rogers this weekend, the weather is set to be good so get down to the River Yare. Also if you want to enter your own duck for next year the bill is £100.
Those of you who were fortunate enough to have experienced the 70s and its TV shows will probably remember the show “Buck Rogers in the 25th Centuryâ€. Duck Rogers is a tribute to the show and was painted by Mik Richardson. We’ve worked with Mik before and he designed some of our painted skips in the past.
