Last weekend marked the start of the 2018 GoGoHare’s trail by Break charity. The famous trails which have in the past featured gorillas and dragons, took on a historically less intimidating character in the form of hares. Hundreds of local companies, schools, and artists have been getting involved with the 2018 trail, including our good friend Mik Richardson who we teamed up with again to create skip art for the event.
Mik’s Work
Having worked with him in plenty of times in the past, we got in touch with Mik to see if he wanted to collaborate on another piece of skip art work. As we were celebrating the start of GoGoHares, Mik designed his mural around local landmarks, such as Norwich Cathedral and of course some decorative hares!
We were positioned outside The Forum last Saturday watching as Mik went about his work. It was a lovely sunny day, and Mik was working hard alongside youngsters Huck Bond and Rudey Radcliffe, who brought their own designs to life on the other side of the skip.
Mik has been involved with the GoGo events in previous years, including GoGoDragons and GoGoGorillas, creating the infamous Freddie Mercury Gorilla in 2013. This year he designed three colourful hares, which will be displayed around Great Yarmouth and Hemsby.
Previous Work with Mik Richardson
This year is the fifth year that we have collaborated with Mik, having collaborated with him at various different events including the Great Yarmouth Maritime Festivals in 2015 and 2016. He produced some amazing painting of ships related to the festival.
Speaking at the event our director Gary Thurtle said:
“The skip art events are always great fun. Mik is a real character and loves talking to the crowds. The finished skip goes onto the streets for delivery to customers and really helps us stand out from the competition. This event was the first time that Mik has mentored children while doing his artwork and he found it really inspiring to help them. Huck and Rudey were great fun and were very professional. We look forward to showing off their work and hope other children will find their work inspirational.â€
